Josh Umbehr, M.D.

Born and raised in Alma Kansas, I met Lisa, my high school sweetheart while playing football at Manhattan High School and followed her to Kansas State University. While there, I majored in human nutritional sciences with a minor in biology in addition to extensive research on the effects of vitamin A on lung cancer. From there I went on to graduate from University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed my Family Medicine residency at Wesley Medical Center. After completing my training and becoming a Board Certified Family Physician, I was able to open AtlasMD, a practice I have been dreaming of for nearly a decade. AtlasMD represents my ideal medical practice wherein I am able to shrug of the burdens and restrictions of government and insurance regulation so that I may focus solely on my patients and their needs.

Lisa and I now have 3 gorgeous children, Katelyn, Paige, and Cole and they keep us busy to say the least. Katelyn, our oldest, has Down Syndrome and we’re blessed every day to have her in our lives. We have happily made supporting the Down Syndrome Society of Wichita a key focus of ours and AtlasMD’s.

Doug Nunamaker, M.D.

I was born in Joplin, MO but was raised mostly in Manhattan, KS. I graduated from Manhattan High and then attended Pittsburg State University where I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology with minors in chemistry and physics. I graduated from KU Med and then went on to residency in Wichita, KS at Wesley Family Medicine. During residency I met my wife with whom I have a wonderful son, Sebastian. After residency I joined Mid-Kansas Inpatient Physicians as a hospitalist before joining Dr. Josh at AtlasMD where my true passion for comprehensive, life-long family medicine awaits.

I am Board Certified in Family Medicine and currently hold certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS. I am a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine, Kansas Association of Family Physicians and the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. I also currently hold an Associate Faculty position with the KU School of Medicine – Wichita.

I have known that I wanted to be a family doctor for quite some time since my father is a hospital administrator and I have been around hospitals all my life. I realized rather quickly that one of the problems with practicing medicine is that the long arm of insurance companies is always looming overhead. At AtlasMD we are able to cut ties with insurance companies and provide medical care as we were trained to. It’s actually the kind of family medicine clinic that I always wanted to be in but until Dr. Josh came along it just wasn’t an option.

Jeannie O’Callaghan, RN

I am “Girl Friday” at Atlas MD. I am energetic, an excellent communicator and truly enjoy people. My 20+ year nursing career ranges from: Hospital nursing (ICU, NICU); Clinic nursing (Pediatric, Family Med); to Technological nursing (Electronic Health Records).
I “swore” I would never go back to Clinical nursing due to the 2-3 hours/day I would spend trying to manage patient care through the intrusive mismanagement of Insurance Companies. Then I met Dr. Josh. He introduced me to the vision of AtlasMD, returning family medicine to patient-centered, patient controlled care …so here I am…another niche for “never say never.”

I was born in San Francisco and raised in beautiful Marin County. I married my high school sweetheart in 1978 and started life away from home; from Boston to Los Angeles to San Diego to Wichita. I have 4 great kids and 1 absolutely perfect grandson. I love to garden, cook and to hit a vein on the first stick!
